Euro 2024 Neuer achieves a record and surpasses the Italian legend

Today, Manuel Neuer, the goalkeeper for Germany’s national team, set a new record in the Euro 2024 tournament. He played his 18th match in the Euro tournaments, surpassing Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon, who played 17 matches. Neuer achieved this milestone during Germany’s match against Switzerland, which concluded the first round of group matches.

Neuer surpasses Buffon

Neuer has been playing continuously for Germany in this tournament, held in his home country. The German team, nicknamed the “Machines,” secured their spot in the round of 16 by winning their first two matches against Scotland (5-1) and Hungary (2-0).

When will he retire internationally?

At 38 years old, Neuer has hinted that he might retire from international football soon. He stated that he will make a decision about retirement after Euro 2024 ends on July 14th. This tournament marks Neuer’s eighth major international competition, highlighting his long career and commitment to the German national team.
